Now it’s rapper 50 Cent’s turn to verbally attack boxing superstar and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.
50 Cent, or Curtis James Jackson III, is a friend and business partner of undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr., who previously criticized Pacquiao and practically accused the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) super welterweight champion of using performance enhancing drugs.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper/hip hop artist, who has had no previous run-ins with Pacquiao, attacked the Filipino ring icon on the popular social networking site Twitter, firing scathing remarks against The Ring magazine’s reigning pound-for-pound king.
“There is [sic] 3 methods to beat Steroid Pacquiao he have been knocked out twice and lost a decision I stand behind my country USA all day,” said one of 50 Cent’s tweets to his more than four million Twitter followers.
“If Charlie Scheen [sic] can take a test I know Manny Pacquiao punk ass could have a blood test,” said another message.
“If anybody that’s following me think that Steroid Pacquiao with 3 losses can beat are [sic] 41-0 American champ @FloydMayweather stop following me.”
50 Cent made the remarks while hanging out with Mayweather (41-0, 25 knockouts) in a Florida night club last Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
His tweets were picked up by millions of boxing fans on Twitter and rapidly spread to other social networking sites in less than 24 hours.
GMA News tried to obtain in-tuned with Team Pacquiao members to get their side but calls were not answered as of posting time.
The five-time American Music Awards winner even said that Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs) is just fighting boxers whom Mayweather had already beaten.
“Floyd Mayweather beat fighters 1st then Pacquiao gets his leftovers Delahoya Hatton now he’s fighting Shane,” said one more message on Twitter.
“Pacquiao makes money in the US an [sic] take it to his country and feed his people. Floyd Mayweather makes money in the US and feed [sic] the homeless,” said another.
Mayweather’s uncles, Roger and Jeff Mayweather, have been issuing contradictory statements about Pacquiao. While Roger talks about Pacquiao’s alleged steroids use, Jeff has discussed a possible fight between his nephew and the Sarangani representative.
Jeff said that he is trying to convince his nephew to agree to fight Pacquiao later this year.
Some reports said Mayweather’s next bout, possibly against Pacquiao later this year, will be held in South Africa, with Nobel Peace Prize winner Nelson Mandela and one of his daughters attempting to get the fight in Johannesburg.

Establishment prevailed with the top eight slots in the latest installment of The Sports Network’s Top 10 pound-for-pound boxing rankings, released Thursday.
Incumbent WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, who will defend his title against Shane Mosley on May 7 in Las Vegas, remains No. 1 overall largely on the strength of November’s unanimous decision victory over Antonio Margarito at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
That fight earned Pacquiao the WBC super welterweight title and ran his unbeaten streak to 13 fights since a call loss to Erik Morales in 2005. Pacquiao subsequently vacated the 154-pound championship and announced his intention to stay at 147 pounds.
Placing second towards the Filipino is unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr., who was the last fighter other than Pacquiao to occupy the top end spot. Mayweather beat Mosley by a wide 12-round verdict in the May 2010 match, but may be inactive since, due no less than in part to a number of legal concerns.
A fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather continues to be discussed for the last few years, but was initially scuttled due to Mayweather’s demands for stringent pre-fight drug testing. Subsequent gestures through the Pacquiao camp, however, have reportedly gone unanswered, leaving the fight’s fate uncertain.

Consensus middleweight kingpin Sergio Martinez is No. 4 and can attempt to keep that status Saturday night, when he’ll meet rising 154-pounder Sergiy Dzinziruk.
Staying at No. 5 is WBC heavyweight title-holder Vitali Klitschko, who’s 6-0 since getting back from a four-year retirement.
Holding spots 6, 7 and 8 are WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward and IBF super middleweight champion Lucien Bute, respectively.
Up one spot from 10 to 9 is WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez, who improved to 30-0 and scored knockout No. 27 with an eighth-round stoppage of veteran Rafael Marquez in November.
